golgiNEU 260/BENG208: Workshop in Light and Electron Microscopy
View class XWiki
This 4-unit graduate course will review basic principles of light and electron microscopy and introduce a variety of advanced microscopy research methods. This will be accomplished through 2 hours of formal lecture per week and 6 hours of hands-on training on specimen preparation, instrumentation, and image analysis. Laboratory periods will include a 3-hour formal training period and 3 hours of independent study to gain additional experience. Each student will bring their own project based on their intended thesis work that will benefit from the application of the techniques presented in the course. Practical examinations will be administered to cover topics presented in lab. Students in the laboratory course will provide a formal presentation of their results at the end of the quarter.
